About Dai
Dai Edwards is a South Wales based artist, carrying out private and public commissions, a lot of which are community based projects working with local authorities and community groups. ” I first bought a chainsaw when i was 18 to start carving in wood on a larger scale, but with interests in trees and the environment found myself working in the environmental sector and as a tree surgeon – i have been working for myself for some 6 years now, as a tree surgeon and performing environmental and more specifically tree education, alongside the the sculpture work”.

Dai’s 2010 Sculpture: The Mighty Acorn
‘From the tiny acorn, the mighty Oak will grow’ This old saying is the inspiration for this sculpture. A tiny Oak sapling will be planted in the tip of the carved Acorn – with luck one day it will be a mighty Oak and the mighty acorn, tiny in comparison. It speaks of our dualistic relationship with ‘nature’ and of our own lives, fleeting as they are in comparison to the Oak.”
