Dan’s 2010 Sculpture: Karma Chameleon
I chose the subject of a giant chameleon climbing the worlds’ tallest building and catching a fighter plane with his amazing sticky tongue for a few reasons:
Firstly it was to try and condense into a single scene, the battle that is raging between man’s obsession to dominate, consume and grow, and the natural environments resilience and capacity to stay in balance, which in the end could bite us back.
Secondly is that chameleons are almost exclusively tree dwelling creatures, making a strong connection with the medium of wood, and that in the afore mentioned battle, trees and their protection and proliferation may very well be the key to the natural environments continued resilience and survival.
