Guido Oakley
About Guido
Guido was born in 1972 on the Isle of Wight into a creative environment, his mother a teacher of art and his father a boat builder and ceramicist. His earliest sculpture was created at 18 months, when first able to walk he was found in the pottery carving a thrown block of clay. He had a very natural, creative, hands on childhood, playing with many different materials and tools, and proceeded to do his foundation at Shelly Park and went on to Central Saint Martins, spending his first year studying in Sydney Australia, his second year in Barcelona, and won a European competition in his third year and spent time creating in the Philippines. Guido has also spent 20 years working with gem stone, colour and aroma therapies of which there is a strong element in his arts. For the last 9 years he has successfully run his own creative business Guido Oakley Design, his creativity, inspiration and expression being the source of all his work.

Guido’s 2010 Sculpture: Avatar
I would like to introduce into the world an interactive and natural art form that can awaken faculties within the human system to heal and regenerate on a cellular level, predominantly working with reclaimed, windblown or trees that have died naturally, with a combination of pure metals and gem stones and a sympathetic understanding of how these elements work together allowing the materials to suggest what they truly want to become enabling myself to bring this in to form.
